Corgi D-Day C-47 Model

On the evening of June 5, 1944 thousands of men across Great Britain waited in anticipation for the action that was to come. While some of these soldiers embarked upon ships in the channel many were to land in occupied France by parachute, the vast majority jumping from C-47s. This particular C-47 was the transport aircraft for the leader of 1st Platoon, 2nd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne, Richard 'Dick' Winters. The star in the film series "Band of Brothers", Winters was an inspirational leader to his men during D-Day operations and their advance through occupied Europe. The Douglas C-47 Skytrain carried thousands of troops throughout Operation Overlord.

The Corgi Aviation Archive features a wide selection of high quality, ready-made, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using specifications of the original aircraft. Corgi models are built from diecast metal and some plastic components.
